Ulverston, get ready to shuffle up and deal! A brand new poker league is set to kick off at The Swan Inn, promising a fresh dose of friendly competition and thrilling card action for locals.

The official No Limit Texas Hold'em league is slated to launch on Thursday, 3rd July, with a meet time of 1915 and games commencing at 1930 - but one of our own here at The Ulverstonian stopped into last night's practice session to see what it's all about.
Organisers are keen to foster a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable, regardless of skill level. The extremely friendly staff at The Swan combined with the exceptional selection of delicious ales make this an easy decision if your Thursday evenings need a boost in the fun department.

Participation in the league is pretty straightforward, with a £12 total buy-in, £10 going to the nightly prize pot, £2 toward the league's season pool, and an option of a £10 rebuy if players are eliminated early. You can also choose a £5 add-on at the end of the rebuy period to boost your chip stack.
Players can buy into the during the first hour, and games are expected to wrap up around 10pm each week. The league will run for 12 consecutive weeks, with points awarded to the top eight finishers each night. To ensure fairness and offer flexibility, only each player's top 10 scores over the 12-week period will count towards their final league standing. This means missing a week or two won't necessarily jeopardise your chances of winning the overall title.
This new poker league promises to be a fantastic addition to Ulverston's social calendar, offering a regular spot for camaraderie and competition.
